"Iron Ghost on the Housatonic" :: Lovers Leap Bridge, New Milford, Connecticut, USA
The Lovers Leap Bridge, which is silhouetted in faint autumn twilight over the Housatonic River, has faithfully spanned the gorge since its construction back in 1895. Iron bridges such as these hit the market in the late 1800s and they were oftentimes the "high tech" replacements for older wooden covered bridges. Of course, both of those bridge designs are now rather antiquated and there are few examples of either left in Connecticut.
J. G. Coleman is a Connecticut-based landscape photographer whose award-winning work is a celebration of the natural and cultural heritage of the American Northeast.
